weekly happiness 01

1. Good TV

The X-Files is my favorite television show and I've recently gained access to Netflix so I am watching every episode from each season. It's a lengthy process considering there are over 15 episodes in each season and 9 seasons all together, but I'm happy to get through them all. I've already seen a lot of the episodes to begin with and both of the films, too. I'm starting to pick up some little things by binge-watching The X-Files that I normally wouldn't pick up just by watching an episode here and there like I used to do. For example, I'm starting to get a better understanding of Scully and Mulder's professional and non-professional relationship.

I've also been watching The Carrie Diaries with my roommate. We're both massive fans of Sex and the City and this is the fabulous prequel set in the 1980's. I didn't want to watch it at first when it aired because I thought it looked a little silly, and it is, but it's actually quite good for being a prequel for one of the most beloved shows of the new millennium. AnnSophia Robb does a wonderful job playing Carrie Bradshaw and I love seeing all of the 80's clothes and watching her work at one of my dream jobs at Interview Magazine.

3. Jazzy

Whilst composing my winter playlist, I always seem to check out what I've missed from Jamie Cullum. His jazzy-pop combinations are so wintery and perfect I always feel obligated to include one of his songs. Momentum came out earlier this year and is so wonderful and some of the tracks are surprising. I appreciate musicians like Jamie Cullum because he brings back that classic feel and creates beautiful melodic jazz filled songs. His cover of Rihanna's "Don't Stop The Music" is one of the best covers I've ever heard. I've also been listening to Robbie Williams' new album Swings Both Ways, which I think is a perfect album title. I am a massive fan of Robbie Williams and desperately want him to tour America (he never does and never has). Swings Both Ways is very classic and nods to the swing era (hence the title). I love seeing Robbie evolve from the first time I saw him around 2005 in MTV Cribs as a very dry humored and raunchy British celebrity living in Los Angeles to a rock star in the music video for "Bodies" and as a candy flavored British pop star with Take The Crown last year to a clean and minimal new father and loving husband during Swings Both Ways.

4. New purchases

I recently bought two new pairs of jeans from Old Navy since as a college student, I can't exactly afford $80 Levi's anymore. I wanted a dark denim skinny jean and a black skinny jeans to tuck them into my Chelsea boots for the winter. I was very pleased to that see their jean sizing chart has three very different options for three very different body types. I am very curvy and have a true hourglass shape and was worried about trying on skinny jeans but they turned out very comfortable and they look great on.

I also had to buy a rain coat since I realized I own nothing rain proof and nothing with a hood. I found a Nautica coat at Macy's that is absolutely perfect. There's roomy pockets, a massive hood, it's black and has a draw string waist, which I absolutely love for keeping my figure even when wearing a coat.

5. Enhancing my lifestyle

I want to cook more, clean eat more, write more, read more, be on the Internet less and treat my brain some more by reading stimulating articles and publications.

- I'm starting out by reading Gardenista and dreaming of my own apartment.

- Sectioning off my notebook for this little experiment.

- And making sure to pay attention to the end of Erin's "My week in objects" posts.
