take me to the disco

As always, I am inspired by one of my absolute favorite bloggers: Hannah from Capture The Castle. The way that lady writes is so refreshing. I only aspire to have the same aura that her pieces have. One tidbit that always delights me is reading the top section of the sidebar on her blog. She lists her monthly likes/loves/obsessions and leaves it to that. I have contemplated doing the same on my sidebar but knew that that was too literal. So instead, I've decided to link my seasonal playlists with my seasonal crushes.

1. Etro autumn/winter 2012

Slightly Edwardian, 100% goth. Totally buttoned up and I kind of like that strung out on heroin look with a dab of early-to-mid-90s lipstick.

2. Dolce & Gabbana autumn/winter 2012

Winter florals + Italian decor. Those earrings are so incredible but they would cause all sorts of problems. Anything for fashion though, right?

3. Gucci autumn/winter 2012

So simple; that hair. I could just wake up and pull two strands back and go. Then there's the make up: bleached brows and vampy lipstick. And I wouldn't take those earrings out, either.

4. Collared blouses with ribbons tied in a bow

Just grab some ribbons and stick it under your collar. Tie in a bow and boom: a makeshift bow tie. Cool.

5. Rachel Weisz's Vogue UK July 2012 editorial

Incredibly womanly. Her eyebrows are envious and I would love to own the clothes used here. I love the fact that she doesn't wear a typical wedding ring. Just a simple gold band that goes with everything. Daniel Craig is a lucky man.

6. Eddie Redmayne

So quintessentially English. A theatre buff and an art history major. He went to school with Prince William at Eton College and has the most wonderful speaking voice. It's suddenly cool to be freckly and slightly ginger.

8. Aaron Paul

Probably one of the coolest guys I will never meet. Those eyes are incredibly and so beautifully disturbing and he's the best crier in the business

9. theatre and drama

There's something about going to plays that I really enjoy. I haven't been to one in such a long time. One (odd) thing I remember, though, is the sound the actors' shoes make on the stage floor. I'm not sure why, but that sound has always stuck in my head.

10. My AP English class in general

I'm enjoying the in class essays, reading Shakespeare and the poetry section we just went through. I can't believe I just said that.

11. Russia

There's something so fantastically regal and secretive about Russia. I love the language (I've been practicing my accent) and their architecture. Not to mention their history; specifically the Romanovs. Russia seems to be having a moment with Anna Karenina coming out in theatres soon enough.

12. my iPhone 4

It's so clean and minimalistic and everything is is one spot. It's so convenient and it has saved me so many times.

13. Staying in bed on Sundays and gorging on TV shows

How else do you think I made it through 3 seasons of Breaking Bad? I like to wake up around 10:30, have some breakfast, maybe get some little chores done and then lay in bed all day.

14. Breaking Bad

One of the best shows I've seen. An over qualified chemistry teacher learns he has lung cancer and goes to cook meth with a former student-turned-junkie to earn some more cash. It's dramatic but it's hilarious. Win, win, yo.

15. The X-Files

There are so many episodes, I don't know how I could get through all of them. I suppose if I did number 13 every week then I would. Despite being so wonderfully "90s", those story lines are so fun to follow. And Scully and Mulder have to be the best television duo out there.

16. Plum nails

Dark plum. Almost black under fluorescent lighting.

17. velvet

Velvet is always for the colder seasons. I still want a velvet dress with a Peter Pan collar.

18. headbands + Cher's hair style from Clueless

I have been told many a-times by some pretty random people that I resemble Alicia Silverstone's character Cher from Clueless. Now that I have been wearing headbands I think I need some knee high socks and silver metallic Mary-Jane's.

19. Reading Thought Catalog

Simple thoughts stretched out to their end capacity. I could read it all day.

20. Anton Corbijn

Next to Juergen Teller and Hedi Slimane, Anton Corbijn is my favorite photographer. Although, Anton is more than that as he as directed two films, one about Joy Divison's front man Ian Curtis and another with George Clooney. He established the image that Depeche Mode has carried on through the decades along with Metallica. And yes, Anton photographed U2 for their award winning album Joshua Tree. Other than being the artistic director for my favorite band, I am attracted to the aesthetic he has. It's not glossy, it's almost gritty and it has a very "photographic" feel to it. All of his pictures look like they really are a captured moment in time. I just can't wait to watch the documentary about him.

21. My fall 2012 playlist

Take me to the disco. No really, it's on my bucket list.
